Pascal is a founder of EU Focus Group. He spent 22 years in a Brussels-based consultancy building and leading the Portfolio on Pesticides & Biocides, Fertilisers, Food & Feed, Chemicals & classification and Priority substances.

Pascal developed an in-depth expertise of EU policies where science is being challenged by societal & political developments. He substantially contributed to the drafting of various key Regulations while providing innovative interpretations of existing regulatory principles such as negligible exposure or sustainable use. Pascal is an expert of the Comitology processes having developed with the authorities both in Brussels and in the Member States capitals, a constructive dialogue based on trust & mutual respect.

Pascal taste for Asia led him to previously work as a lawyer in the most prestigious Bangkok-based law firm and as Editor of a website on EU-Asia relations for the European Institute for Asian Studies.

Pavel has over 15 years of experience in EU regulation and advocacy. Throughout his career, reinforced by an MBA degree at INSEAD, Pavel advised clients from Europe and Asia on environmental, health and tech legislations. In addition to leading client work at EU Focus Group, he develops relations with business schools and other learning organisations.

With a triangular educational background in politics, business, and law, Pavel provides a valuable analytical breadth to the interlinkages between EU policies, companies’ immediate business impacts and their short- and long-term corporate strategies.

Pavel advises clients in negotiations with the EU and Member States’ competent authorities during complex legislative and regulatory reviews, the clients coming from a wide range of geographies such as France, Germany, India but also Japan. He guides them through best possible compromise solutions while defending and upgrading clients’ reputation at all levels of EU decision-making process.

Cecilia has over seventeen years of experience in international, EU and UK public and regulatory affairs. She has a well-developed international network that includes senior policy-makers, government officials, regulators, standard-setters, investors, firms and other key international/EU/UK organisations.

Prior to joining the EU Focus Group, she was the Chief Executive of the Actuarial Association of Europe (AAE), representing 36 actuarial member associations in 35 European countries. As the AAE CEO, she provided input on legislation to the various organisations of the European Union (with a focus on pensions/insurance/sustainable finance) and also spoke at high-level conferences and events.

For over eight years she was the Head of International Relations for the Financial Reporting Council, the UK’s financial regulator and standard-setter in the areas of corporate governance, audit, accounting/financial reporting, stewardship and actuarial policy. In this role she was in charge of developing the FRC’s international/EU strategy and influencing legislative, policy and regulatory developments in the EU, US and the wider international community. She was also head of the FRC’s representative office in Brussels.

Cecilia was a representative of the FRC/UK in specific EU Council meetings (together with the UK Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy), in the EU Committee of European Audit Oversight Bodies (CEAOB) and in the International Forum for Independent Audit Regulators (IFIAR). In 2016-2018 she was also the project manager for the FRC’s joint Brexit project with the UK Department for Business, Energy and Industrial strategy; in this role she worked closely with the Department for Exiting the EU (DexEU), the Treasury, the FCA, the PRI and other UK regulators, government departments and stakeholders in the framework of UK’s exit from the EU.

She has been a senior policy adviser for ACCA in London, the head of a trade association in Brussels and a senior consultant for Brussels-based, EU public affairs consultancies.

Cecilia holds a Masters degree in European Studies from KU Leuven (Belgium) and a Bachelors degree in International Relations & European Studies from the University of Westminster (UK). She is a member of the UK’s Investor Relations Society and a board member of a London-based fintech startup. She is fluent in English and Swedish and has a working knowledge of French, Norwegian and Danish.

With a sound technical knowledge in environmental technologies and data analysis and a strong passion for industrial development, Daniel reinforces EU Focus Group’ outreach in connection to pesticides, fertilisers, biocides, energy and ICT, primarily in the German-speaking market and in connection to the EU institutions in Brussels.

Daniel holds a Master of Science degree in environmental technologies and international affairs from the Technical University of Vienna and Diplomatic Academy of Vienna. In addition, he has a Magister (equivalent to a Master) in international (trade) history. He is fluent in English and German, and possesses an advanced knowledge of Italian. In addition, he speaks some French and is currently studying Dutch.

Monica Annibaldis has close to 30 years of experience in advocacy in Italy. She first supported the diplomatic advisor of the Prime Minister, at Palazzo Chigi, on international economic affairs about 10 years ago as well as being an advisor to the Minister of Economic Development, developing business opportunities in the Balkans for the Italian government.

Further to these political functions, Monica decided to move to business and obviously joined Confindustria and supported the association in its important industrial projects in the Med Region, Africa, and Balkan countries. She also enjoyed various functions: advisor of the President Confindustria, such as in Federlegno Deputy Managing Director of Assoarredo Urbano, Board Member of Edilegno, as well as part of the Industrial Policy Commission; Board member business council ANFIA ( automotive association Confindustria). Monica supported various associations and federations she specialised in various sectors such as chemical, pharmaceutical, food, automotive & infrastructure including highways and railways.

She drafted many commercial agreements between Italy and the Balkans as an advisor to many companies including supply chain Fiat, Leonardo Spa, and Ansaldo STS. Monica is also principal expert at the European House Ambrosetti within the business unit – Intelligence for business competition.

Committed to building synergies between public policy and academia, he combines his professional experience with teaching at different universities across Europe and the United States.

With a strong background in European Law, Adrian brings his political and legal knowledge to the EU Focus team with an emphasis on Spain and Italy in connection to the EU institutions in Brussels. Adrian specialises in building political compromises and is passionate about finding innovative legal solutions to technical and scientific challenges.

Adrian holds renowned honours such as the Fulbright scholarship or the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst grant. With more than 20 years of business experience, Miguel Marín is an economist, founder and CEO of ANÁLISIS ECONÓMICO INTEGRAL (AEI), a Madrid-based consultancy company specializing in advanced institutional, public affairs and advocacy strategies. At AEI, Miguel helps clients in both the public and the private sectors to sharpen their competitive edge. He is also lecturer in Economic Theory at the CEU-San Pablo University in Madrid.

Dr. Calogeropoulos-Stratis has a strong academic background, having authored studies and articles on international law, human rights and European policies. His diplomatic and academic achievements are recognised by the national orders of France, Belgium and Israel. Earlier in his career, he held various high-level government positions dealing with health, security, social and European affairs.

He holds a PhD in political sciences and International Law from the University of Geneva, as well as a Master’s degree in international relations from the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva. A native Greek speaker, he is fluent in English and French.

He led engagement programmes for the OECD and the International Energy Agency (IEA) with a specific focus on Asia (China, India, Central Asia). In addition to this, he advised several governments and sat on the boards of top energy and FTSE 100 companies.

Thanks to his extensive professional experience, Mehmet is a regular contributor to newspapers and TV channels from the UK, US, France, Turkey, Russia and Israel. He also teaches at the Harvard University, London School of Economics, the Universities of Dundee and Reading. He chairs The London Energy Club and the Bosphorus Energy Club.

Her professional career consists of national and international/EU-oriented work experience and she strongly believes that a vertical, horizontal and functional rotation can greatly enrich one’s knowledge and experience.

She studied international relations and European studies at the Comenius University in Bratislava, Economy in Coimbra Portugal, and EU studies in Brussels Belgium. Petra completed her post gradual studies at the faculty of law at Comenius University in Bratislava.

Her professional international background was also gained by numerous internships in EU institutions such as European Parliament, working directly for MEP, then the international relations office of a Belgian university and the Ministry of education and science in Slovakia while there she was preparing for the Slovak presidency of the Council of the EU. She also holds the PRINCE certificate for effective project management.

Petra is fluent in Slovak, Czech, and English, and has an active knowledge of Portuguese and basic knowledge of German.
