Webinar: “Cadmium in Fertilizers: What impacts on food & health in France? A future ambitious governmental decree to be in line with ANSES recommendations?”
EU Focus was delighted to support Safer Phosphates and the OPERA Research Centre in the organization of a second event dealing with the issue of cadmium contamination from phosphate fertilizers, this time specifically focused on France.
The OPERA Research Centre presented its recently published White Book, explaining the main current scientific findings on cadmium contamination and the possibilities for the food value chain to use “cleaner” phosphates.
The debate, which brought together scientific, political and economic experts, took place at an opportune moment, as France was in the process of finalizing a decree on the maximum cadmium content of fertilizers.
The panelists discussed the issue of cadmium contamination in France, as well as how the French government can effectively tackle this problem and incentivize farmers to use cleaner phosphate fertilizers.
